Tanzania's other
wilderness.
Below the surface.
The Rufiji — Tanzania's largest river system — drains into the Indian Ocean through a 600km delta and holds tigerfish, Nile perch over 100kg, yellowfish, and catfish in concentrations that rival any freshwater system in Africa.
The Selous Game Reserve — Africa's largest game reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is traversed by the Rufiji. A boat on this river is a wildlife experience in its own right: hippo pods on every sandbank, Nile crocodiles of extraordinary size, elephant herds at the water's edge, fish eagles calling overhead.
This experience is for serious anglers who want a genuine East African river adventure. Guided by specialist river guides working with our team. Fully equipped with rods, reels, and boat. The Rufiji fishes best June to October in the dry season, when water levels drop and fish concentrate in pools.
